Fact Sheet
Our Company
Founded in 2004, EquityRock is a privately-held home finance and real estate investment company with a single-minded focus on creating smart alternatives for homeowners to access their homes’ equity. We are not a lender or a bank. We are the first, and still the only, U.S. company that has successfully applied home equity sharing to a scalable operating business. Our flagship product, the REX Agreement, enables homeowners to convert their equity into cash with no debt, no interest, and no monthly payments—ever.
Our Product
The REX Agreement is a real estate investment agreement in the form of an option that enables homeowners to convert the equity in their home into cash. A REX Agreement is true equity financing. Homeowners receive a large up-front cash payment in exchange for giving EquityRock the right to share in a specified percentage of the future change in value of their home. If the home increases in value, EquityRock shares in the gain. If the home declines in value, EquityRock shares in the loss.
A REX Agreement typically lasts until the sooner of 10 years, or the sale of the home. EquityRock receives its share of the change in value of the home when the REX Agreement ends.
The most common uses of an REX Agreement include:
- Tapping into your equity—with no debt, no interest, and no monthly payments—without selling your home and using the proceeds to plan for retirement, purchase a move-up or second home, fund a child’s college education, or secure long-term health care or retirement income.
- Making buying a home more affordable by increasing your down payment and reducing your monthly mortgage payments.
- Diversifying your asset portfolio and protecting yourself against the potential decline in value of your home.
- Saving you thousands of dollars in interest charges as compared to a second mortgage or home equity loan to fund a major purchase, improve your home, or reduce your monthly payments by paying off existing debt.
